Definition

A rare, circumscribed or encapsulated tumor arising from the follicular cells of the thyroid gland, histologically characterized by a trabecular growth pattern and hyalinized stroma.

Hyalinizing trabecular adenoma of the thyroid gland is unusual under the age of 30 years and is about equally distributed in the fourth through the seventh decades with a mean age of 47 years. There is a marked female predilection
