Malignant myoepithelioma


Malignant myoepithelioma is an infiltrating neoplasm composed purely of
myoepithelial cells, which are predominantly spindled, show identifiable mitotic activity, but often lack significant atypia. The lesions are generally well defined and range in size from 1 to 21 cm. Nodular areas of hylinization may be present. Larger tumours may contain foci of necrosis and haemorrhage.
Malignant myoepithelioma occurs in adults of all age groups. Local recurrence or distant metastases may occur. Complete excision with uninvolved margins is recommended
