Definition

Hairy cell leukaemia (HCL) is an indolent neoplasm of small mature B lymphoid cells with oval nuclei and abundant cytoplasm with "hairy" projections involving peripheral blood (PB) and diffusely infiltrating the bone marrow (BM) and splenic red pulp.
