A malignant neoplasm composed of glandular epithelial clear cells. Various architectural patterns may be seen, including papillary, tubulocystic, and solid.

Foci of conventional adenocarcinoma with mucin production are usually found and can distinguish primary carcinomas from metastatic clear cell carcinomas of the kidney.
